The Nordic countries have enjoyed a long history of successful legislative collaboration. This collaboration was originally closely linked to the Nordic Law Meetings which were convened as early as the latter half of the 1800s. Much later, in the middle of the 1900s, the basis of the collaboration was formalised by virtue of the so-called Helsinki Agreement and a platform in the Nordic Council and the Nordic Council of Ministers.
